Surf surf surf to the end till you are done with the majestic Arugambay waves located south-east of Sri Lanka. A great escape gateway from the hustle and bustle of tourist packed down South towns into a laid-back atmosphere. Heaps of restaurants/bars and accommodations right on the beach will spice up your stay. The array of palm trees and colourful boats litter the beach which looks stunning.

There are three main surfing spots to choose from which are; the Main point for intermediate to advanced surfers, Whisky point for beginners which is one of the famous spots around, and Peanut Farm, 25 minutes from Arugambay which is highly popular as well.

It’s not only about surfing as well. The jungles nearby will raise your eyebrows with its mysterious charm and calmness. What makes this place a special one is just one main street of shops, restaurants, and surfboard rentals, etc. which slices the town into two charming pieces like an icing on the cake.

Surfing destinations always seem to be Yoga destinations, isn’t it? Arugambay is not an exception. You will see loads of yoga places in every nook and cranny. The beginning of the day doesn’t get any better than this by stretching out the muscles with light exercises and relaxing a bit. Exploring the Panama tank and kumana national park is few of the other adventures to mix it up. Panama tank, just a 15-20 minutes drive from Arugambay, basically has a single road to ride along. The scenery is picture perfect for capturing photos, and you are lucky if you are destined to sight few crocodiles. Kumana National Park, an hour drive, known as a bird sanctuary, is worthy of it to sight large flocks of migratory waterfowl and wading birds, which gives all the vibe of a safari park. It is home to some famous mammals as the likes of elephants, leopards and deer, etc. as well.

Next up is the ever-loving Pottuvil Lagoon Tour for eco wave exposure, a lagoon of tranquillity. Just a blink of an eye ride from Arugambay, we arrive at the evergreen lagoon embraced with pin drop silence. A dawn visit is a must to explore the staggering scenes where the rising sun slowly brings colour to the sleepy scene in front of us. Navigating around on a fisherman’s boat, a herd of Elephants, crocodiles, monitor wizards are few of the wild animals to sight and refresh yourself by switching on to travelling mode.

Arugambay is the perfect destination for your days to turn into absolutely flourishing weeks. You will find it extremely hard to leave the natural magnificence.
